Artist’s Statement
Hi, I am Marjeet Gharti, a fine artist based in Nepal. Speaking about art, can sometimes, mislead the viewer and detract from the aesthetic experience. Therefore, I aim to be as careful and precise as possible. I am inspired by the idea of mystery—certain facets of existence where pure reason is irrelevant, and an ethereal veil of abstraction that lies beyond the utility of logic. With my art, I seek to acknowledge this mystery. When it comes to my creative process I enjoy not knowing what I will draw or paint, how it will turn out, or what my next idea will be. I don’t necessarily start with a subject; instead, I let the subject emerge from the shadows of ideas, from an inner alchemy, so to speak.
I incorporate aesthetic aspects of diagrams and symbolisms with abstract forms and patterns, mostly in a two-dimensional composition, in hopes of achieving a balance between the intellectual and the sensual. My primary mediums are acrylics, ink, and graphite, supported by canvas or paper. Sometimes, I add design elements to my fine art to create prints. I like my images to evolve.
